My Story
-Trina Krug
My Background
I am a Doctoral Candidate in Functional Nutrition, with a research focus on early insulin resistance detection and biomarker-guided metabolic interventions. My academic work explores how triglycerides, fasting insulin, the TyG index, and metabolic pattern recognition can reveal insulin resistance long before glucose changes.
In addition to my research, I bring over a decade of experience in:
• metabolic and low-carb nutrition
• functional and integrative health education
• insulin resistance awareness and prevention
• women’s metabolic challenges in midlife
• sustainable behavior and lifestyle change strategies
I’ve taught hundreds of women how to read their own metabolic signals clearly, confidently, and without fear.
Why I Created The Insulin Resistance Lab
Women deserve a place where metabolic science is explained in plain English, not hidden behind jargon, fear, or vague advice.
The Insulin Resistance Lab exists to:
• teach women how insulin resistance actually develops
• make biomarkers understandable and approachable
• decode early metabolic patterns
• bring clarity to confusing symptoms
• provide evidence-based strategies grounded in research
• empower women to advocate for their health more effectively
This isn’t a coaching program or a quick-fix solution. It’s an educational lab — a place to learn, interpret, and finally understand what your metabolism has been trying to tell you.
My Mission
- To change the way women think about insulin resistance.
- To make early detection accessible and actionable.
- To help women understand their metabolism long before problems escalate.
- And to ensure no woman feels dismissed or confused when seeking clarity about her health.
A Personal Note
You shouldn’t need an advanced degree to understand your own metabolic health, so I’m putting mine to work for you. My goal is to translate the science clearly, respectfully, and without overwhelm.
Welcome to The Insulin Resistance Lab.
You’re in exactly the right place.
